Paris apartment by Frederic Berthier

This Paris apartment renovated by Frederic Berthier in 2011 is perfection. The herringbone floors, white walls and luxe marble surfaces - I love it all!

A winter hat

I want need a winter hat. Here's my justification - a winter hat will not only keep my head warm (I already have some cute beanies and hooded coats that do that), but it will also protect my pasty skin from the harsh Australian sun (yes, that's still shining in winter) and it will look great too.

This is my current shortlist.

I'm hesitating because I really like the Kookai fedora, but the quality doesn't seem great and the Rag & Bone hats aren't available in Australia which means if I ordered one I'd have to risk it not fitting or not suiting me and they're over $200 (Australian) each plus shipping.

I just watched Disney's frozen for the second time.  I love it!

Kitchens: white, grey and timber

Just a few kitchens I love and have recently pinned, all with a mix of white, grey and timber finishes.

A hideaway coffee/breakfast/appliance nook will definitely feature in our new kitchen.

Outfit inspiration: autumn basics

We're over half way through autumn and it's still too warm in Sydney to dress for the season.  I wore cashmere stockings, a sweater and a sequinned mini out last night and I was boiling.  Despite this our shops are full of gorgeous autumn basics that I'd love to be wearing; lightweight coats, soft knits and ankle boots.  Autumn really is my favourite season for fashion.  I'd love to be able to head out in something like this outfit soon.

I'd add one of my statement necklaces and a staple black handbag (maybe with my black and white Céline scarf tied around the handles).

Garance Doré for Rifle Paper Co.

Garance Doré's collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. is now available in their online store.  I love Garance's handwriting and the colour palette of black, white, gold, pink and yellow.  I'm planning on buying multiple cards in the six designs below.
I think I need a new iPhone 5 too, so I can buy one of these cases.

White with shades of grey

Here's another lovely modern space by Polish firm, Rzemiosło Architektoniczne (see earlier feature here) in white and shades of grey.  I love the sofa and the kitchen.

Cute looks for baby boys

I have three friends and family members due to have babies in the next three months and I don't know whether any of them are having a boy or a girl.  There are so many options for cute clothes for baby girls, but it can be difficult to find stylish outfits for baby boys, so I was excited to see the looks below from Country Road's latest baby range.  I love the graphic stripes, especially the romper in the last image.

A monochrome palette and chevron floors

I love this minimal and modern space by Rzemiosło Architektoniczne in Poland... the monochrome palette and those chevron floors!  I must have chevron floors when we eventually replace the mismatched timber boards in the downstairs rooms of our home.

Le Bistrot, Chamonix, France

I noticed it's been a while since I've written a food post, so here's one from our honeymoon.  We spent three days and nights celebrating our first White Christmas in gorgeous Chamonix in the French Alps.  We booked the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Bistrot for our Christmas dinner.

Harry chose the smaller 4-course degustation menu with matching wine flight (which ended up being nine courses by the time they added an amuse bouche, starter, cheese course, dessert and petit fours).  I wanted to do the same, but was struggling too much with jet lag and eating huge French dinners at what my body thought was breakfast time, so I stuck with two courses and no dessert (but there were still a few extras thrown in).  Here are some of the highlights.

Our amuse bouche was a savoury choux pastry with a shot of beetroot juice.

Our starter was a deliciously creamy vegetable mash with sausage.

Harry's duck foie gras, quince confit, lychee, balsamic and pepper.

We both had salmon gravelax, oyster, acidulated vegetables, celery puree and vanilla.

We both had roasted cod fish, pumpkin puree, chestnut and hazelnut (this is the degustation size serving, mine was huge).

Harry's venison fillet, cranberry juice, gnocchi and parmesan.

Harry's brown sugar shortbread, pistachio and citrus fruit.

The petit fours (including homemade marshmallow) were ridiculously cute and delicious, but we only managed to eat two each (and took the chocolate truffles for later).   No coffee because we desperately needed sleep.  How do the French finish every meal with coffee and still get to sleep?
